Thank you Mountain Man
Posted on June 22, 2017
Hello to all!
We’d like to start by saying thank you to all who came out to a great festival last weekend. Mountain Man was truly a great experience. Was great to see some old fans and even made some new ones who we hope to see regularly now. There were some great acts who we shared the stage with again, like The Damn Truth (If yo have not seen them i urge you to check them out), Hellbros, In Heat and of course The Glorious Sons. We had a great time at Mountain Man and hope that we can be fortunate enough to play it again.
What’s next? Well we have an acoustic show to prepare for so we will be working on beautifying our songs a bit (don’t worry, not too much). We also plan on getting some new tunes finished up so they are show ready. And for shows, let’s see if we can line up something in a town near you for late summer early fall. Hit us up if you want us to come play in your city/town.
Until next time!
ICONOCLAST Mk 4 – Here we are!
Posted on May 23, 2017
In 2002 a guy approached me after performing a show at Barrymore’s Music Hall in Ottawa, and this changed the course of my life from then on.
Fahim Rahman was a spicy type, a bassist with prog-proto-metal group Diamond Back and was out to see a Pearl Jam tribute act. He happened to catch the opener, another Ottawa rock outfit called Abandon whose lead guitarist also was familiar with delicious curries. “Nice to see some colour up on stage!” was his pick up line and we hit it off immediately.
Pretty soon I was having beers with him and the future wife of drummer Marian Dej. A lot of talk about bands and music, and he was keen to have me see another group, a three piece called Iconoclast that was known for crazy live shows and packed crowds.
My first time seeing Iconoclast I was impressed. Also drunk. Very drunk. Singer and bassist Michael Van Korn was ferocious and intense with a booming growl. Guitarist Michael Corkum was spinning around like crazy, in his own world, destroying his Fender Stratocaster with power chord slashes. Mars was behind the kit with eyes bulging and smashing the shit out of his drums. I was hooked. And did I mention drunk? For the remainder of the show I stood in front of Korn with devil horns attached to his forehead on one hand and a rye in the other, and frankly I’m surprised he didn’t kick me in the balls. That definitely happened later, but I digress.
A few months later I was backstage at Babylon after a show when the boys approached me with a question. “Would you be interested in auditioning to sing for us?” I was totally shocked, and it took me precisely zero seconds to accept the offer to try out. The rest, as they say, is history.
This isn’t about me though, this is about life coming full circle. Four albums, hundreds of shows, thousands of practices and 6,987,331 beers later we were at a crossroads where the band came face first with life… guitarist Dave Di Ubaldo was following his dream and the love of his life out west and all of a sudden we had to make a choice, should we stop or continue? Do we have anything left to say artistically? Are we even relevant? Why is the sky blue? Do people give a shit? Well it was a unanimous yes that we weren’t ready to pack it in just yet. And from the get go it was clear there was only one direction to go…
Mike Korn was to take over lead guitar duties, no small feat, and we would add a bass player. Not just any bass player, but the guy who would compliment the band personally and who had the chops to boot.
We call this the Iconoclast Mark IV era, and we are super proud to announce that Fahim Rahman has joined us for the ride. As Fahim says, “I’ve considered these guys brothers for 15 years and I couldn’t be more excited to keep this thing moving.” We are jamming furiously to get everyone up to snuff, and we have lots of cool shows coming up so you can see what we sound like. Our plan is to write and record new music asap to share with everyone, and we couldn’t be more fired up.
On behalf of the band I’d like to thank everyone who has supported us! We will see you very soon, June 3 to be exact at Live on Elgin!

Well hello there everyone!
Just a quick update on what’s going on in Clast world lately. We’ve been hard at work getting Iconoclast Mark IV ready for the world as well as booking shows for the summer and fall. We’ve already had the June 3rd at Live on Elgin in Ottawa and Sept 23rd in the beautiful Montreal. We are also now confirmed on the awesome Mountain Man Festival at Calabogie Peaks Resort on June 16th, 17th, and 18th. We will be hitting the staging on the Saturday afternoon (day time drinking!) opening for Hellbros, The Glorious Sons, the Damn Truth and many more. This will be a great outdoors event full of classic Canadian outdoors life and of course Rock and Roll!
We will be letting the cat out of the bag soon about the new Iconoclast lineup so keep your eyes open!
Until next time! Rock On!
Farewell to a brother.

Hello to all!
There has been a lot of exciting things going on in the Clast world this last little while and unfortunately not all of it can be good. After 5 amazing years of rock ‘n’ roll, brotherhood, and drinking, our brother has made the hard choice to leave the band. Dave has been and always will be an amazing brother to all of us. His dedication, musicianship, high energy performances and killer shredding have helped make the band what it is today. All our successes over the past five years would not have been what they were/are without him. Thank you so much, Dave.
Dave has decided to move to the beautiful Canadian Rockies where he will continue to develop his other creative outlet of photography. It’s been amazing to watch Dave develop and improve over the past five years not only as a great guitarist and musician, but also as a photographer with a keen eye for lighting and angles (OK, I will stop pretending to know anything about photography now). I hope you all will join us in wishing Dave all the success in his future. Dave, you are an amazing friend and band-mate who we are all proud and blessed to call brother. Thank you for helping make these last five years so memorable. We love you and will make sure April 1st, JunoFest at the Brass Monkey will be a show to remember. Please come out and join us all in giving Dave the send off he deserves. Rock on buddy.
As for the future of Iconoclast…? We have decided to not stop this Rock train and continue rocking hard and fast. We’ll have more details in the next week or two, so check back.
Marc, Mike, Korn and Mars
BACK AT IT!

Hello again to all you Clast fans!
2017 has been off to a slow start, but it is starting to ramp up quickly. We’re getting psyched for our upcoming show at the Brass Monkey for JunoFest (see Live section for details). We are also getting the planning done for our next video shoot, which we’ll be shooting hopefully early April and have that out to the masses before the summer. Looking at booking many more shows in addition to the ones we currently have so keep an eye out. Finally, we promise to be updating the site far more than we have lately so keep checking back for posts and updates on all things Iconoclast.
Great night with Bach!
Posted on November 29, 2016
Just want to thank everyone who came out to the Sebastian Bach show at Barrymore’s Music Hall Thursday night. It was an amazing night of hard rock. Inire opened the night with a great, powerful and loud (the good kind) set. Not to mention a great group of guys. If you didn’t make it out we assume it’s because you couldn’t get tickets since it was sold out. BUT no worries we will see you at our next show we’re sure. Was a great show to close of the 2016 year for Iconoclast.
